![]() After the grout has set for the 10 to 15 minutes you are ready to wipe the surface clean with a sponge and water. Make sure you make multiple passes with a wet sponge at a 45° angle until the excess grout is removed. Rinse sponge often to remove loose particles of grout from the sponge. Change the water in the bucket often so as to not contaminate grout with dirty water and loose particles. The grout joints should be of a consistent shape and depth when finished. After the grout has been allowed to harden there will be a haze on the tile's surface left by the grout residue that will need to be removed. Remove this residue by wiping over the tile with a piece of cheesecloth until film is removed. If grout film is difficult to remove you may have to use something a little stronger (feel free to call us or send an e-mail for additional advice on this subject). Using a sealer will protect your grout from future wear and undesirable staining. It is applied with a sponge brush and the excess wiped away with a cheesecloth or towel. We recommend you use a sealer such as "Custom Sealers Choice" to protect your grout. Tile and Grout maintenance primarily involves cleaning and sealing the grout to protect against stains. Even with a sealer, however, a spill that is allowed to sit on a joint for a length of time could leave a permanent discoloration of the grout. As long as the spill is cleaned up quickly, grout joints will continue to look new. The tile itself is extremely durable and requires little on-going maintenance other than cleaning. | ||
